Lochs & Rivers

The Cairngorms National Park has some of the cleanest rivers and lochs in Europe and is known worldwide for its fishing as well as being a great location to enjoy a variety of watersports such as kayaking, sailing and windsurfing.

Managing the balance between fishing interests, other recreational pursuits and nature conservation is a challenging job. Most lochs are managed by the estates in which they are located whilst the Spey is managed by the Spey Fishery Board and the Dee by the Dee District Salmon Fishery Board.
