Land Based Business Training
Project Introduction
Land based businesses throughout the Cairngorms National Park are eligible to benefit from an exciting project led by the Cairngorms National Park Authority in partnership with the European Social Fund. This is a scheme to part-fund training for people working on estates, farms, crofts, forests, nurseries - in fact any business that is related to the management or use of land.
Aims
The Park Authority recognises that these businesses are a significant, valuable resource in the Park, and therefore wants to help them to be efficient, competitive and adaptable. A major ingredient to develop this is training.
Targets and Objectives
In addition to providing funding for training, the project provides support and assistance with training by helping to identify training needs; finding trainers and courses to meet those needs; finding others interested in the same training to make up course numbers; influencing course dates and venues to suit the location and time commitments unique to land based businesses and monitoring to ensure high quality courses run by good trainers.
The project team provides support and assistance with training by:
- Providing part-funding for training courses - and full funding for courses that focus on delivering ' public benefits'
- Helping to identify training needs.
- Finding trainers and courses to meet these needs.
- Finding others interested in the same training to make up course numbers.
- Influencing course dates and venues to suit the location and time commitments unique to land based businesses.
- Monitoring - to ensure high quality courses, run by good trainers.
Training can cover a wide range of activities in a variety of categories including, The Use and Maintenance on Machinery / Vehicles / Equipment; Management Development and Business Skills; Health and Safety; Customer Care; IT; Technical Training and Environmental courses.
In addition, full funding is provided for courses that focus on delivering 'public benefits', eg the Access Legislation; Catering for the less Able Visitor; Basic Path Maintenance; the Significance of the Park's Biodiversity etc.
